What I love about Morzine...

Grand Ourse (Mont Chery)

One of the top restuarants in the Alps; the service, food and attention to detail are second to none. Run by an English family, this little restaurant on a well hidden part of the Portes Du Soleil has an outstanding but not expensive menu, sheepskin rugs on the seats, a roaring log fire and a terrace with the most epic views of the Alps. The runs on this small mountain are all reds and blacks and are always a favourite with my guests.

Tibetan Cafe (nee Buddha)

A favourite amongst visitors to Morzine, this eclectic little basement bar has an excellent range of beers and wines, a regular DJ (mainly rock and pop) and is open till 2pm most nights. The staff are friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is lively.

The Weather

Morzine and the Portes Du Soleil have a reputation for great sunshine most months of the season. Cold, dry and sunny in winter months, long sunny and warm in Spring. Often the snow will come at night, leaving excellent dry conditions during the day, although there have been several moments of skiing in zero visibility when the weather rolls in quickly - be sure to be prepared for any conditions!

Coupe De Couer

A new wine bar style venue opened summer 2009 in Morzine. Specialises in a wide range of wines by the glass/bottle, as well as champagnes and light bites. The sheepskin seat throws and the fleecy blankets to wrap round yourself are a lovely touch when the weather is chilly, but in the sunshine they have a large courtyard for basking. It is right by the Tourist Office and popular with locals and tourists alike. Coffees and wine always come with a little tray of free treats!

Francois Baud - Ski and Board Hire

An excellent ski shop, conveniently located at the bottom of the Pleney telecabine. Well stocked with all types of skis, boards, helmets for the whole family. Their technical knowledge is the best in the village and you can be guarenteed of a tailored service while you are there...if your skis aren't quite right, they will work with you to get exactly the right pair.
